Ola lovely people

We are in the process of buying a holiday home in Lo Pagan and want to get WiFi for the house but not one that links to a phone line. In England we use a home hub with Three which you can just plug in and it’s all set to go. Is there something similar over there?

Hola, I would recommend Flexa/Alcatel who come and plug in your router and also offer various packages that include UK TV channels. Wifi only - no land lines but you can also have mobiles included in the package! We have up to 600Mb of Internet, the TV package and 2 mobiles with calls included for 39.95€ a month. Flexa have various offices where you can discuss your requirements and most of the staff speak English.

Orange do something similar to the home hub, it runs off a phone sim card and provides wireless in the house.

However I'd go with flexa as they also offer a package for holiday home users where you can turn it off when not in use and just have it connected when you arrive.I don't know how much that option is. I have fibre optic with them and pay 29 euro a month so it's not expensive to have a year round contract.

Why not  get a Spanish sim and just teather from that? I used to do this when I was working in other European countries

Hola Paula,

We use Flexa for our holiday home. They are very helpful and have some English speakers working for them.

We have their 'Internet por Dias' service. We paid €100 to have it installed, which includes cabling and the router. Then we just pay for the days we are out there. We just book online from the UK, through the account settings provided, and they turn it on and off accordingly and automatically. We are charged per day, which get less the longer the period. I think it averages at about €2/day. Maybe less for longer visits.

The broadband and Wi-Fi from the service is excellent and we can watch TV through our Fire Stick and use the Wi-Fi for our other devices.

I have to say it was a game-changer for us.

Thank you Neil. I think we will be going with this option we go for.
