Hi all,

Can anyone tell me where to get an International driving license in or near Los Alcazares as it appears that I will not be able to drive here on a U.K. license for the rest of my stay if we drop out of EU on the 29th March with no deal!!!

Many thanks

To answer your question ,I'm Pretty  certain ,you need to get a Uk international licence in the uk .Not sure on that, but most major Post offices issue them in the uk .No one is sure yet about a international driving licence  yet required  in Spain. When I travelled in Europe last year it was hit and miss ,that one was required.Debatable subject.

Are you resident in Spain?.....then get a SPANISH licence.

If you are a visitor, then you will have to wait until something is decided.

International licences can be obtained in the UK from an UK Post Office, on presentation of your UK Licence.

We are not resident in Spain and travel back and forth frequently. We do not return to U.K. until May 5th this time so after Brexit (maybe!!!). The way I read it I should be able to obtain an International driving license in any EU country whilst we are still in EU. Very confusing !!

You can only get them from the Uk. I got mine last week when I went back for a week. You get it from a large post office. You’ll just need a passport photo and driving license & that’s it. You need to explain its for Spain as there’s different licenses. It cost me £5 for the photo and £5 for the license. The spanish one also covers you for USA. It’s valid 1 year. Hope that helps

If ,as looks likely ,we are going to crash out of the Eu,and this is reality ,if you are driving to Spain ,or using uk insurance and Uk driving licence .You will require a green card plus maybe a International driving licence .Its not project fear ,but if arriving in Spain ,it could see you stopped ,from continuing your Journey .If travelling through France I would Deffinately check this out .No good using that well worn phrase "no body knows "it's true ,no one knows but  likely,What a mess .Wait  for health care situation for expats that needs clarification ,that's the other thing that's concerning.expats won't know, until turning up at a Hostpital ,and seeing who is paying the bill for your healthcare.

I got my international driving permit ( not a licence)  about 4 weeks ago from any larger post office in the UK. You can’t get them issued over here in Spain. The cost is £5 and lasts for 12 months, where the French and most other countries in Europe are the same price, but last for 3 years. We intend to drive from Spain into Portugal to Santander and had to buy 2 international driving permits as one won’t recognise the other.

Hope this helps

Hi

I tend to drive through France into Spain. So I will have to get two international driving permits  one for each country. Is that correct
