Hi everyone I would like to pick your brains on companies to use for insuring our apartment for house and contents .We are on Mar Menor golf and do rent it out  We have in the past gone with the bank, but feel they are not always the most reasonable. Thanks in anticipation.

I have contents insurance etc with this company.  They also speak English so easy to work with. https://www.axa.es/oficina/130561-sanchez-saurafrancisco-antonio?xtor=CS2-165-%5BGoogle_Maps_Agentes%5D-%5BAXAAG130561%5D-%5BInterna%5D

Banks are notorious for being expensive for insurance & from some of the posts on this  forum are very difficult to deal with when, or if, the time comes to claim.

I use Ibex Insurance for both car & house insurance, they have local offices all over the  place.

I deal with them online only though.

We have house and contents insurance with MAPFRE, office in San Javier.

I find them reasonably priced however do want to change as I believe I can get a better deal if I shop around. However when I looked into changing I read that I have to give my current insurance company 2 months written notice of cancellation (which is ok when you know about it).......I’m hoping someone on the forum with more experience of this can confirm if written notification is required and the best way to proceed in changing insurance companies.

thanks...

I have a feeling you are correct about the notice period.

One of the strange things about the Spanish insurance market.

No I didn’t YungAtHeart, by the time I found out I have to give 2 months written notice of cancellation I didn’t have 2 months in which to give the notice......but I’ll do all my research and be ready for next year...

However I did change my electric supplier, I am now with Nordic Energy.....everything done via the internet and in English. They require a copy of a recent bill to make a comparison and then they advise on what tariff may suit.....all very easily done.
