Dear fellow expat residents and visitors,

Unfortunately my first post on this forum has a negative connotation but I believe it important.

On the Lorca road (RM11) heading into Aguilas, there are 2 Ventas: Venta de Tebar and Venta de San Felipe and after living here for 15 years we have put a fair amount of trade into both. In our time here, both originally had menus for €10 per head.

Last week we ate in Venta de Tebar (VT).Their menu del dia is €10 for 3 courses and you choose between coffee or dessert. They are quite generous with the accompanying drinks.

That same week we ate at Venta de San Felipe(VSF). Their menu del dia is €12 for 3 courses including dessert and coffee. Single drinks only with meal unless it’s water.

So yesterday when we took friends to VSF for lunch, we were shocked upon requesting the bill to be asked for €15 per head. There had been no signs inside or outside to declare this price increase, nor was it offered when ordering our food.

Our complacency is also partly to blame but overall we wanted to share this experience with you all and alert you to VSF’s unlisted price increases. Maybe if you have a local cafe or restaurant that you frequent, it might be wise to check the pricing before you order.

Lesson learnt for us oldies.

Hopefully our next post will be more positive.

Best regards,

M&Cxx

I would personally have asked to see the price list ,which by law they must display .  As you have eaten there many times again I would have quried the bill and if no satisfactory answer asked for the complaint form again they must have these by law. I expect they would not like to be reported to the authorities.

It is similar to when restaurants try to charge via at the end of a bill  if this is not displayed on the menu then it is illegal.
