Does anyone have any more info about having to obtain and pay for an invitation from the local police for relatives to visit your property. I spoke to several people at airport coming into Spain and they hadn't heard of it. Is it being implemented as I do not know of anyone asked for or being refused entry without this permit. I do not know of anyone applying for one.

A simple answer to your question would be - yes, it's technically required, but no-one ever asks for it...
