Economical drive way covering

Hi

We have 2 bits of Sandy clay mud area in our drive and are looking for an economical way to cover it,any ideas please.

It depends how big your 'bits' are? ;-)

1 tonne of gravel will cover 14 sq m to 50mm depth, which is the recommended minimum depth for a driveway and should cost about €100. You should also apply weedkiller first (even if there are no visible weeds) and a weed protection mesh before applying the gravel. You'll need a shovel and a rake and about 1/2 day's work...

If you drive on the driveway look at putting down gravel grids.

They stop the gravel from forming ruts.

Buy them in Leroy Merlins

We gravelled last October, purchased 65ton of gravel(only for around house not all our land) and paid 9.5€ a ton. So €100 is bit steep for 1 ton. Recommend you enquire at local quarries even if smaller amount needed as their lorries usually hold 15 ton approx for best deals. Builders merchants, garden centres etc their biggest charge is delivery fee.
