Can anyone recommend: Who can construct a pre-fabricated log house?

We have sourced a very good quality log house, 2 storey's approx 200m² in size. It would be delivered ready to be constructed. Does anybody know of a company that can do this type of construction in this area? We are near Cartagena. The company is Scandanavian and due to Covid restrictions it is not financially viable for them to send a team to construct the house.

Any info much appreciated.

Before you commit to buying it, make sure you will get planning approval from your council.

Friends in Malaga bought one in 2005 and had it shipped over, only to have it sitting on their land for years in its wrapping as they could not get permission to assemble it, let alone get a certificate of habitation.

As far as I know they never got permission.

Shoot me if I'm jumping the gun Peter, and I have no structural engineering experience. However, 1st thing to my mind is how will a Scandinavian 2 storey wooden house cope with the extreme heat expansion in Spain's extremely high temperatures? Forgive my curiosity!

Yes, I initially thought the same thing. However, the wood is treated and of a laminate construction to cope with the heat. They sell quite a lot to Spain apparently.

I had 8 wooden chalets erected outside a small village in the mountains 20 km outside of Benidorm.

There was no problem with the heat or indeed the cold we can get here in Spain, they were all double glazed and a joy to stay and live in.

Hello Eduardo

Can I ask who you got your wooden chalets from?

Hi Angela,

Unfortunately when I got the site, the cabins were already erected and over 5 yrs old, so cannot tell you where they were purchased.

But I was looking at various options and found a couple of companies in the Murcia region.

Sorry cannot be more helpful.
