Hi. I’m totally confused (doesn’t take much!) Can anyone please explain the 90 day rule.     I understand that you can stay in Spain for 90 days in every 180 but looking at different websites, It seems to imply that the 90 days start when you enter Spain and you can only stay or return within the next 90 days from the day you entered. I have just returned from my holiday home after a two week stay and can’t come back until September due to my annual leave. Unfortunately, this would mean I have passed my 90 days. Can anyone please explain this in layman’s terms as to whether this is correct and when would I actually be able to return. Thank you.

Hi Meesh

This is how I interpret it and if I’m wrong I’m sure someone will correct me,

From the first day you enter Spain (or any EU country) that will be day 1 of your 90 day stay in a 180 day window, so basically if you remember that you are allowed 90 days to travel to any EU country in a 6 month window, so if you’ve just had a 2 weeks holiday here in Spain and assuming this was your first EU holiday this year you are totally in the time frame to come back in September.

I Hope this helps a bit, it’s all a little confusing I know🤦‍♀️

Have a good day 😊

Thanks for your reply. The info on the websites are quite confusing. I think you count backwards to calculate your 180 days. Hopefully this will all become much clearer. 🤞
