We have recently purchased a property in Los Alcazeres and wanted internet installed. The installers came around promptly however the access duct into the house is blocked about 1m from the road access cover and 11m from the house and so they could not install it.  They said we needed a builder to unblock it.  We contacted a builder who came around late in the evening and said he would come next day and sort. He didn’t come and we waited in all day. We contacted another builder suggested by the hardware shop up the road from the hotel los norajos. He tried to unblock it then said he needed to dig up some of the tiles to get to the blockage. He started digging a hole and then told my wife he had to go somewhere to get something and then didn’t come back. We tried contacting him and he said he left a screwdriver at ours and could we leave it with the neighbours if we are not going to be around as he needs it. He said he was not going to come back. We now have a hole in the patio and no internet still.  Does anyone know what we can do or do you know a person who can help.  We are back in the uk for a couple of weeks and only back for a long weekend next but need to sort something out to get cable internet.

Hi

We had a similar situation in the pipe was blocked some where under neath the patio. Recommended the same solution as you but declined the offer. Part of our patio is built on a concrete deck that has a couple of air vents. We took them of and look under the patio. We were able to see from the boundary wall right under the house. The waste pipes could be seen. However there was no plastic conduit visible for the old Telefonica cable. It would appear the conduit is buried well under ground and could snake any where.

Several owners in our community have mentioned the conduit is blocked in their property. I have noticed some owners have surface mounted plastic conduit to the 'man hole cover' then in to their garden. The access hatch is next to the property though.

Thanks for letting me know. The manhole cover is around 1ft away from our garden. A house at the other end of our road has a box on the wall with cables that run into their garden and I presume into the manhole. Our installer didn’t suggest any other alternatives other than antenna or a 4g router. They say if there is not access to the house by the pipe those are the only alternatives.
I am tempted to buy an endoscopic camera to connect my phone and see if I can tell what’s blocking it given it’s only 1m from the manhole.

Not sure what I can do once I find out what it is though.

It is possible I guess to drill with a long bendy drill but there are risks in that.

Pick the brains of alternative cable suppliers, preferably English. Tell them what you think the problem seems to be. and ask how they could solve it. Act naive , and I find it always works as an old lady widow when I have any technical problems. People fall over themselves to show superior knowledge and I accept it all gratefully.

When we first applied to get fibre installed the techies told us the same thing. A different chap then looked in a completely different manhole and found the tube, no blockage. Try getting a different company to see if they can do the same?

Thanks for the suggestions. I think we might try the other cable suppliers and see if they can assist with this.
