Hi

Does anyone know if any transport links between the new Covera airport and Los Alcázares have been organised,we are coming over at the end of January so I presume the new airport will be open by then.

I understand Jet2 have already taken bookings for January, and the taxi licenses are being sorted out now. A lot of the support service contracts were awarded this month, and the hire car companies will move from San Javier to Corvera. Transport should not be a problem,or no worse than it is now.

Who knows if there will be a bus service! I don't hold out much hope. But I can bank on one thing. There will be plenty of expensive taxis!

Obviously there will be winners and losers whenever an airport shuts and relocates. If there is a demand for bus travel from Corvera, I'm sure it will happen eventually. As for trains, I've tried to use them in the UK and they are a nightmare! Either cancelled or late, so it's always back to the car for me. ( and then stuck on the M25).

Count your blessings in Spain. Airport tax has been reduced, and no drop off fees. Just have a look on the internet at the extortion at all UK airports!

Yes, you are correct about drop off fees. Luckily I can walk to Luton Airport from my UK home. They have increased the drop off fee to approx £3 now. Daylight robbery! Addison Lee have a very expensive  contract with the airport and charge customers a fortune. Just like at san javier airport. Only taxis on a contract with the airport are allowed to pick up passengers. This is why you will find lots of taxis hanging around the roundabout by san javier airport. Both airports are run by AENA. The same company who will run covera. So you can guarantee a taxi from covera which is out in the sticks is going to cost a fortune for most of us!
