We are thinking of buying a small boat when we move into our new villa. Any idea on how much it costs to moor them and what the rules are about having boats on the Mar Menor

A berth in a marina will cost you around €3000 a year assuming you mean a powerboat of say 8 metres, and you will need to have an ICC (International Certificate of Competence) which you get by doing a RYA PB2 course over 2 days in the Mar Menor or Torrevieja. Powerboats are thirsty beasts and can cost €30 an hour or more to run. You will need annual services and have your bottom cleaned...
