Hi, moved to LA a few weeks ago and if there are more than about 3 appliances on at the same time the electric goes off.  Is this normal or do i need to get it upgraded.  If so, is it Iberdrola i need to contact and how much is it likely to cost? Or is it something else?

Thanks a lot

Hi

WE have had a an  apartment in El Divino for 16 years and its never happened to us. The people in the Lamparas shop used to be a source of electricians.

A lot of your wall sockets could actually be on the lighting circuit - we used to get that problem with kettle/microwave/toaster at breakfast time.

Cheapest and easiest way to check is to turn off the lighting circuits then check those sockets, hope this helps.

I had that problem in my house in Los A. I found out that some of the power points were 16 amp but most were only 10. So I have to make sure I use the right power points or the system overloads and cuts out.

Thanks for your response.  I only have 3.3 watts of electricity so switch on the kettle, a hot plate and the washing machine for example and it trips.  I’ve been told I need to get a spanish certified electrician to check out all the electrics and recommend the level of upgrade, issuing a bulletin which then has to be presented to Iberdrola to do the upgrade. I am now looking for a spanish certified electrician.

Thanks

Had the same problem. Used Dicasa in San Javier, Diego speaks English. They did the upgrade and all the paperwork, completely hassle free.

Sorry paperwork in Spain will check soon. From memory 120 euros for the work, new box and paperwork. Not noticed big increase in bills, but will check.
