Hi all

My wife and I are currently searching for a holiday home in Los Alcázares. We love the area and particularly the proximity to the airport as I hate driving when I'm away. My question is that I keep reading about San Javier being closed and Corvera taking all the flights. Does anyone know what is actually happening, as I can't seem to find any concrete information either way!

Many thanks

David

Been going on for years so wouldn't let it stop you buying in or around LA ... If eventually Corvera does open its only 20 mins away

Look on Murcia Today website for latest ... think they agreed to someone to run it but there are still millions of euros outstanding debts

Thanks CrissyWissy, that's reassuring. I guess there's no guarantee it will even open in 2018 either... To be honest we wouldn't let it put us off but the close proximity of a small relaxed airport is one of the things I love about the area. It just makes the door to door time shorter, which if we're popping over for weekends or a couple of days at a time makes it more feasible, as we're close to Stansted, (an airport I now hate)

Arriving at MJV an hour before the flight and still having time for a coffee makes it a far more pleasant experience than flying from larger airports... Now if only Easyjet would start running flights from Southend I'd be even happier!

I agree we love MJV too and now they have a Costa Coffee in the car park!

Hope you find somewhere to buy......

This is an on going saga but it does seem there is a strong intention to want to use corvera and return San Javier back to the military

Will still take a couple of years at least but appears to be high on the agenda

I've been following the Corvera incident closely since first deciding to look at Murcia. Being close to an airport will be important to me as I don't drive. On a visit to the area I spoke to an estate agent who told me he'd seen the airport, that it was completed and all ready to go.

I note that the tender to run the airport is said to be going out this month.
