My husband and I are looking to move from our present home of 11 years, plus others from 1991, in Spain to the area of L.A.    We cannot find any press reports of suitable retirement accommodation in the area and wonder if anyone living in that area can help us.   Our Spanish is not good.  We intend to come to L.A. for a few days to view any suggestions made, rental or purchase, when the epidemic is over.    We are keen cyclists and would like to join a club or social riding too.

All replies will be answered.   Thank you.  Lorna.

not sure what you mean by suitable retirement accommodation. There are a couple of private and council run homes but generally most retired peoplehere  live in apartments or small urbanisations in or near to Los Alcazares not actually designated as retirement property.

Retired people are not corralled into 'retirement accomodation' in LA.

Many of those with least Spanish language choose to live in Los Narejos, in the northern end of LA, but the southern end, the 'old town' is very interesting and much more Spanish.

As always the recommended approach is to rent for a while, giving you time to find the location that best suits you.

Thank you for your reply, we have decided now to come for a short visit after having received so many replies to our location enquiry, but obviously this will have to be when the province borders restriction is lifted.   Should you think of any other points, please do not hesitate to contact us.    Lorna

I would advise renting for a few months first & cycling around the area plus talking to people.  When you say retirement accommodation are you talking like the UK, warden accommodation. There are certain areas we would not live in.  Good luck

Can you please name the certain areas you are referring to as we are also looking to buying/renting in L.A. and would like any information you can provide. Please feel free to PM me if you prefer.

Lammy .

I'm intrigued, what areas are you talking about? I am waiting for the restrictions  to lift before coming to Los Narejos, on the Oasis urbanisation.  I welcome anyone's thoughts on that area.
