Paying tax online

I don't want to start a debate about the best way to pay taxes or what alternative methods you might use, I'm just looking for a procedure tried and tested by any member here to obtain:

1. The reference number and

2. the anagram

Both are required on the Bank payment form, and I'm told are obtained from the Tax Office, which when completed will pay the tax direct from my Spanish Bank!

I've phoned the tax office and they won't speak English! I've contacted my bank for assistance but they keep telling me to contact the tax office. I've filled in the form 210 as usual but when I try and generate the preliminary tax return, it assumes I want to pay in cash!

I'm also told that it can be paid using a digital certificate. I've tried to obtain this but get an error 403 message.

There has to be a simple solution, so if any member here has actually done it, I would be grateful if you would pm me with the details.
