Hi, my husband and I have just arrived in San Pedro with our black mini schnauzer Stan.

I believe that dogs are not allowed on the beaches and wonder if someone knows of one pretty close by where Stan can enjoy a run with his ball.

hi and welcome to spain.  we have been here 4 months.  letting dogs run freely is hard here.  the beach at pilar horadada if u r there early when just light u see people running their dogs.  i have taken mine to Los alcazares beach at the far end (either end).  some beaches only Nov to April they are allowed.  these 2 beaches are ok but legally they have to be kept on leads.  however as long as no one around or other dogs I do let my weimaraner off lead and she loves it.  there is a lovely lake you can walk round inland from torrevejo which is lovely and the dogs go in river and great walk around it.  i will try to find the name of it.  be careful when u see dogs off leads in most cases I have come across the owners have no control and I have seen (not when I had my dog with me) one of two dog altercations.  the owners were not much better either.

Thank you very much for your reply. I would be very interested if you can remember the name of the lake you told me about.

I'll look out for you and your dog when we are out and about. Jo x
