After moving over 2000 euro 2 days ago from hsbc UK to sabbadell I went to check I had not incurred a double charge one from uk ie the crap exchange rate they give and 2 at this end for receiving my money into my sabbadell account.oh how wrong I was thinking my spanish bank would not charge anything for putting my money into their bank.Commission 18 euro .So I went into the branch in San Pedro Del Pinnatar and asked why?the lady said it's your brexit ?i said I don't give a damn about brexit I've been charged from you my bank for receiving my money.she said that's your brexit. At this point I said to her right can you tell your bosses that hundreds and thousands of Brits will just run their money down in their spanish accounts and probably make 1 bank transfer a year from the UK to Spain.her answer to that was no it's not my job to inform my boss it's not my problem? My answer to her was ok when 350000 Brits legally living here and all the others cotton on too I will bet that it will be a problem for you because you will be looking for another job.because the money we hold in these accounts will be drawn down and I promptly walked out.I am fuming because if you add it all up hsbc charge 4 cents roughly Less than the real rate in the pound making a tidy profit and you get a second helping from sabbadell to receive it.

I transferred funds from the UK to Sabadell bank 2 days ago, no fees have been charged. Because other people have been charged I asked Transferwise, this is their answer which I received today.
"Per EU regulations, transfers between bank accounts in two different SEPA countries shouldn’t cost any more than a regular, local transfer.
SEPA is made up of the Eurozone, countries within the EU and a few other countries which also support EUR bank transfers. The full list can be found here.
We send all of our EUR transfers as domestic transfers when sending to other SEPA countries such as Spain, meaning the bank should not impose any charges for receiving EUR transfers from us.
The UK is still part of the SEPA scheme therefore you should not have been charged.

Write to them with the quote from Transferwise?
Would be worth a try.
Nothing to loose all to gain.
And shake them up a little bit.

I've been with Sabadell for several years but their charges have really gone silly considering they've held onto my money for years and only pay a few DD's a year! Their customer service is appalling if you're in the UK and ask for any help. Unfortunately I can't close the account remotely!

Yes but I'm living in Spain I know what you mean though. They got me to take a car insurance out last year as if you don't use one of their products ie a sabbadell bank product they charge you 15euro per month monthly charges ?or zero if you use one of their products. Sometimes I do wish the masses would rise up and make a stand against these banks.Come back UK banks all is forgiven.
