I've been with Sabadell for several years but their charges have really gone silly considering they've held onto my money for years and only pay a few DD's a year! Their customer service is appalling if you're in the UK and ask for any help. Unfortunately I can't close the account remotely!

Hi rma44 ! You can write to them, I suggest by post and also e-mail, informing them that you are closing the account. Do it in English and Spanish (use Google translate). You have a N.I.E. number so you can open an account elsewhere in Spain.

I wrote to them last March when I realised I wouldn't be going out there for a while but they said I could only do it in person. I have formally complained to them but of course they'll take their time in getting back to me, and to lodge a complaint with their version of an ombudsman would take forever. I did that years ago and gave up in the end.

I was happy with Halifax Spain, but they've long since gone!

For some bizarre Spanish reason you have to go into a physical branch to close an account.

Well their you go but the big Q IS what do i do now?.

Hi, I have an account with Sabadel. I use TransferWise to transfer money from my Nationwide account in the UK to my Sabadel account, for the past 12 months I haven’t incurred any transfer fees on either end and I usually get a good rate with TransferWise.

TransferWise is dead easy to use & very very quick.

Your money is usually in your Spanish bank account in a few seconds.

You may have other products with Sabadell or pay in to their requirements & thats why you have not been charged ??
