Safety in San Pedro del Pk tar
I am considering buying a property in the San Pedro del Pintar area. From a security and safety point of view where should I be avoiding looking?
is it safe to walk around at night?

It's safe to walk round as long as you don't leave your brains in the bar ...

There are no gangs of hooded youths with machetes lying in wait to steal your rolex like in the UK .....most crime in Spain is opportunistic / pick pocket at markets/ beach bag snatch or poorly secured property or downright bad luck....really never walked home in Spain including Madrid and Barcelona and Valencia and Seville and never not felt at ease in my life ...
I was being serious people leave their brains out and meet people in bars have a few drinks and suddenly there bag may be gone ...
Just do what you would do at home ..lock up...take out minimum cash and jewellery ..stick to lighted areas if you can and stay in groups if walking home very late ..
Oh yes keep your brains in a safe place .

It is very safe but there are the usual opportunists who will steal from anyone, anywhere….bags, pick pockets etc.
I experienced a distraction robbery first hand, they are very good but honest people are trusting…lesson learnt.
We had our car rifled through & we still don’t know how.
Definitely consider an alarm company eg Securitas as we have had 2 jumps over our wall at night, they soon ran off when the lights & alarm went off.
Be alert & wary but don’t let it affect your decision, we enjoy living here (Lo Pagan) and if we can help in anyway, don’t hesitate to ask.

Yes I know they do :) thankfully I am not one of them. But thank you for the honest opinion. Just so many properties have bars on them it made me question were there a lot of break ins

Thank you for your response. Yep think alarm is something to definitely consider for peace of mind and cameras also. It is good to get a view from people living in the region.
I am a city girl so generally have my wits about me when out and about.

The bars (rejas) on windows are to provide security if you leave your windows open to get air flowing through the property. It is not because they are fitted only in high crime areas.
