Hi Jan

What costs are there for re-connection of water and electric to a house that has been empty for perhaps 4 years?

The house is in town.

Any advice is appreciated.

Hi

I don't know the price but if you contact the utility companies they should let you know. If it's your house then you would have to pay the bills before the cut off and ask for reconnection. If it's a house you have bought then your solicitor should be able to get this sorted for you as you should not be liable for reconnection, it should be the previous owners responsibility.

We kept our solicitor as our Fiscal representative after we bought the house to give us peace of mind that all our taxes were paid correctly. If you have done this then they should be happy to help you with this. We asked ours for help with utilities when we moved in as we weren't sure if the direct debit had been set up and they phoned the companies for us with no charge and sorted it.

Hope you get your connections done soon.

Sorry I can't be more help.

Thanks Jan

It is my house, and bought from Solvia, who don't help with any 'follow-up', but I speak enough Spanish and the lady in the Ayuntamiento is asking Acciona re water for me, and I asked in an Iberdrola office for electric; not in the area, but they were able to find the house on their listing, once I gave them the previous bill-payer's name - though it's never the number in the Escritura! Of course they house is bought free of debts - only perhaps the utility companies have hidden charges to recoup what they think they have lost.

I tend not to trust Iberdrola, having had 2 previous costly problems with them...

Kind Regards

Andrea

You seem to have it all in hand. Going by a couple of our neighbours who have been disconnected due to bill problems with no warning (They dont disconnect so quick in the UK! ), it was quite expensive to reconnect but as all debts were paid up on your house , they can't get you to pay any unpaid bills...best check that and if they do try get the solicitor to take the money off of the retainer they hold from the house sale .

Good luck

Jan

Thanks Jan - Solvia don't have to pay anyone but Banco Sabadell, so doubt there are any retentions [I bought the house for a quarter of what it was worth 4 years ago!]

I'll let you know what the charges are .... it may help others as a comparison.

Kind Regards

I have a similar problem at Calle Hinojo, Spa Resort.

Does anybody know hoe to contact ACciona and whether they have an English language helpline?

Thanks

Hello

We had our water and electricity re connected last year in blanca town and it cost around €280 for both! I did go through an estate agent though so it might be cheaper doing it by yourself. As far as I know it was very straight forward
