Hi

Am I right in thinking that the written driving exam can be done in English BUT only at a Police station?

Are there driving test centres in Murcia that can conduct the actual test in English as I'm being told this has to be done in Spanish?

Regards
Gary

From what I understand the level of Spanish needed to be instructed and tested is only the same as anyone should be able to cope with in order to be competent to drive here?

I obtained my Spanish drivers license, after doing the theory test in English and the practical in Spanish in Cartagena last year. I used the Los Alcazares autoescuela. They have a very good English speaking instructor.

A non Spanish speaker would only need to learn about 10 phrases, so its no big issue.

I am throwing together some more details and will post next week.

So do you have to do the theory at a police station?

Assume you can take the test in your own car & did you do the actual test in Los Alcazares, doubt you can choose where to take the test?

Thanks

No,no & no

You do the theory test in Cartagena, at a special facility, not a Police Station.

You do the practical test in the dual control Driving school car, in Cartagena, not in Los Alcazares, with the instructor sitting beside you and with the Examiner in the back seat..

You can do the theory test in English but the Practical examiner will instruct you only in Spanish., There are a  10 or so, key senten ces/phrases, you will easily learn from your driving school instructor. You will also need to know a dozen or so parts of the car/controls, eg  the hazard lights and be able to point at them, when asked by the examiner.

You will also need to be able to drive to two or three locations in Cartagena from the exam starting point.
