Good morning

I need to rent a small car from Alicante airport. Can anyone recommend one to me that doesn’t have a ridiculous deposit required?

Thanks in anticipation

The deposit normally only applies if you don't take out their insurance (which is generally over-priced to recoup their very low rental charges). So you either pay their insurance or (even if you have a separate universal car insurance policy) provide a deposit.

They are letting you use a £12,000 car for often as little as £5 per day, so they need to know that they're covered if you damage it - and as above, earn more than the £5 per day via the over-priced insurance.

Unfortunately, several companies (e.g. as per previous poster, Goldcar), will try and rip you off to recoup their low rental charges.

Hope this helps!

We use Flamenca Cars.  Not the cheapest but the price you pay is all up front (no hidden costs) and no deposit.  They don't have offices in the airports but that is better as we make all the arrangements beforehand and they are waiting with our car when we land!

I normally book via  doyouspain.com. normally always go with okay cars. You can get 3rd party insurance, but will still need to leave a deposit or go the the rental company insurance. I take out 3rd party annual insurance and leave deposit. I just ensure I look over the car thoroughly and take pictures and ensure I handover to car personally and get the paperwork. No issues in last 4 years with okay cars.
