Hi again zacdog.

I didn't tarnish all dog owners if you read the post, just idiot ones which I'm assuming doesn't include you having read what you have written.

But I must say I'm immensely interested in what jtb said earlier in these posts top person in my eyes, respect to whoever that is.

Hi there.

My partner and I have a penthouse on CDA.

Below us are residents who we think are permanent, however they have a dog that barks constantly sometimes at unearthly times of the morning.

Recently we found out that during the hours of 12 pm and 7am it's considered a anti social act and owners can be reported to the authorities, firstly we would have to contact our local CDA security, who do come round and warn the owners.

If it continues then you can involve the local police, I can't answer for where you are but its worth looking at what is available to you where you are.

Hope this helps.

G.

Where did you read that it was against the law for dogs to bark between midnight and 7am? This must give burglars to rob with impunity as no warnings given. I think you have this wrong as most Spaniards keep dogs for security.

Nothing wrong with having a dog that reacts to someone breaking into a property,  if it does its job correctly, as mine certainly would the intruder would be hospitalised and rghtly so. In that case  the bark and snarl from the window will usually deter. The difference is when it barks at anybody walking past when kept outdoors , that dog should be kept idoors or trained out of the habit. If a guard dog, domestic or commercial, becomes a social nuisance, it would be the same as loud music etc,  a civil disturbance.  Not a lawyer, but I don't think I'd need to check any rule or law books.  Why not just politely inform them of the discomfort it causes, then if they do nothing about It, up the anti.  Don't like the anonymous approach, a little sly.

Hi Ginger.

I don't think I said it was against the law, what I did say is where I am on CDA, if the owners repeatedly ignore local rule our security would involve the local police who have more clout on anti social issues.

What is wrong if owners don't act responsibly the poor dog is the one that suffers, where it should be them, as someone has already pointed out the dog barks for a reason they should attend to the dogs needs instead of ignoring it and making everyone else nearby have to put up with it.

Dogs can be hard work to look after as we can't really communicate properly with them if you haven't the time and energy, or intelligence it's simple, don't have one.

Seems to me that we all agree that if trained properly then dogs can be wonderful pets as well as good protectors of a property

Equally we all accept that many people simply cannot be bothered to train their dogs and seem happy for them to be generally disruptive

This is life and probably no different to living next to the beighbours from hell's

No idea as to the ideal solution apart from moving which of course is not on anyones wishlist...!!!

Hi CFC.

I agree with all you have said apart from the bit that says can't be bothered to train there dogs.

Myself I would say they haven't either the inclination or intelligence to be able to, and also their dogs are far more intelligent and know it, and are only trying to let them know that they are.
