opening a spanish bank account

Hi,
I am opening a spanish bank account and have been advised i need to pay 80 euro a quarter for health insurance, apparently cant open without it at BBVA, any advice?

Yes.
Don't bother opening a Spanish bank account at all.
Their charges and service are horrendous.
Open a wise.com Euro account and use that for all your Spanish direct debits.
Use the search box at the top of this page and search banking.
Lots of advice there.
