Has anyone with private health insurance obtained a temporary SIP card in order to get registered for the covid vaccine and if so, may we ask where did you go to obtain one (San Pedro or Lo Pagan), did you have to make an appointment and what documents were required ?

Thanks in advance

Anthony

Hi, I think SIP cards are only for the Valencia region. I don’t think we get them here in the Murcia Provence. I may be wrong and open for correction.

Hello Lorraine

Thanks for your reply, I think you might well be right, elsewhere I think it’s tarjeta de salud so we will ask for both when we eventually visit the Health Centre.

We are mid 50’s ish..so we know we have sometime yet.

Ironically we have been invited for our 1st vaccine back in Wales for tomorrow...we’ve called to explain and to avoid wasting the appointments.

Thanks & stay safe,

Abthony

Hi Anthony,

I'm also mid 50 ish 😁😁. If you do get a card at the Centro de Salud could you let me know please?  I was there a few weeks ago but they didn't give me a card.  I also got a call from UK to get my vaccination a few weeks ago.  Just like you I had to explain I am in Spain.

Thanks

Lorraine

When you leave the UK to live abroad you must deregister with the NHS, as this is based upon residency in the UK. The practice in the UK will be breaking the law by claiming you on their list.

This will also stop you getting invitations for vaccination.

You need private health care for both Spain and the UK, until you qualify for an S1 as a pensioner, if this is still available when you rerach that age.

Yes indeed, we will keep you posted, if we do not get a temporary card (of some sort), I will escalate it to the Ayuntamiento because they won`t want a number of residents walking around without protection of a vaccine and the Spanish Govt have decreed all residents should be vaccinated, left hand & right hand springs to mind.
