I've done this trip many times.

Ferry from Dover to Calais, head for Paris, Clairmont Ferrand, down on to the AP7 motorway, all the way.

I've done it in 24 hours without stopping but it is exhausting, suggest you get a hotel in the south of France and do it in 2 days

The roads are better then the UK but fuel and tolls will cost you in the region of £500 - £600 at the moment

Good luck!

Hi Sid, I can 100% recommend that you completely bypass France and go from the south coast to Northern Spain. There is hardly any difference in cost after you factor in fuel, tolls and a hotel or two (France is an enormous country!). Unless of course you want to take things in on the drive through France? If not, there will be many members on here who will happily give you a discount code (friends & family). It’s roughly £450 each way, obviously depending upon time of year etc. If you can manage without a cabin, even cheaper at about £350 each way (non flex ticket if you know that you will not need to alter travel plans). The drive down to Murcia from either Bilbao or Santander is about 8 hours. We break it up with a night in a fabulous hotel near Madrid. Very happy to provide a friends and family discount if nobody else volunteers same! Bon voyage

Think hard about being on a ferry crossing the Bay of Biscay during winter, early spring or autumn.
