We will be driving over and bringing all our own furniture and household belongings, clothes, etc.
With a one way hire van (very hard to find), it will be costing us in the region of £2000 in van hire, fuel, channel tunnel ticket and 2 x hotel stays. That compares favourably with removal company quotations which have been in the region of £4,500.
If you are only planning on moving a smaller volume of items, then I have seen positive references on this forum for Lords Removals, who will put small loads together to fill a van and appear to offer a reliable, cost-effective & regular service (only from what I have read on here, no personal knowledge).
So I guess it depends on whether you have furniture that can't be replaced elsewhere or is particularly valuable, whether it's worth moving it.
We also previously bought a bed for our property in Spain - we found the bed we wanted in a local DFS in the UK, were able to order it & pay for it there, but then it was delivered from the San Javier branch of DFS, so that's another potential option.
Hope this helps!
