Hi, we have used furniture covers for outside but they never last. Can anyone recommend where we can buy tarpaulin to use as covers?

Thanks

Leroy Merlin or any large hardware store. Ask for Lona de Protección. They come in many sizes.

I know what you mean about the protective sheets, they don’t last two minutes, a strong wind rips them to shreds. We are keeping our eyes open for an HGV trailer repair company or somewhere that sells quality plastic sheeting. Meanwhile we are having to manage with the cheap stuff.

it's not just the wind that destroys the covers it is the strong sunlight.

I have made my own covers using the canvas material that awnings and sunshades (toldos) are made from. They last much longer than any plastic material. I suggest you go to suppliers of toldos and ask if they have end of rolls, standard sewing machine will sew them up using thickest needles. I was lucky in that the car boot in Salinas (still not open yet) had people selling spare pieces and end of rolls cheap, so bought as many large pieces as possible. All plastic deteriorates in the sun but canvas fares better.

Regards

Pauline

Thanks Pauline now on the look out fir another place to get what we want. We would use tarpaulin if we could get the proper stuff but this cheap stuff sold in DIY stores and other outlets isn’t worth a light. The best tarpaulin we got was from an Outirir delivery truck in .France, we have had and used it to cover our logs, for over 10 years now and still going strong.
