Thanks for the reply. You make good points about being deserted in winter or packed in summer so my question is which part is the busiest in summer and what parts are deserted in winter? In winter I would like to be able to find a few shops or the odd bar open but would not like to be suffocated by throngs of holiday makers in summer.

Lo Pagan is chocca in the summer , and the mar mentor beaches get packed. In the winter it's almost deserted. The med beaches are busy but you can always park without any issue. I use the pillar del Torre 3 huge car parks plenty of room.san pedro is busy all year and there is a nice atmosphere there.  That's my biast  view because that's my town.

Take your time and be careful you don't want to be isolated in the winter. Pillar is busy all year and that's a nice town also.

I don't know about San javior , and I never took to los alcazaros

Have a good look and see where you feel comfortable.  If you consider a finca think about isolation

Good luck with it I'm sure you be successful

Thanks for the sound advice. I would not want to be right in the middle of the mayhem in summer but wouldn't want to be to far from the beach either. I am sure there is a balance to be struck here and will no doubt have a better idea once renting there.

All along the coast you are never more than 10- 15 mins drive from the beach, but don't make that your first priority , I know it's sounds silly , look for community and companionship , you are living in a foreign country and as much as you want to intergrate you don't want to be isolated.

Give yourself a 5- 6 mile radius from a point , say lo pagan and see what towns / villages urbanisations are within the circle.  I would say going inland a little gets more for your money

Sounds like good advice. I’ll bear that in mind when I visit.

Hi thanks for the reply, I was wondering what local taxes would be payable on a property for say a 2 bed apartment. I’m not interested in bills as they are dependant on how much time spent there I’m looking at the property tax or municipal rates etc.

We bought our house in Lo Pagan 3 years ago and we’ve seen quite some changes in the neighbourhood since then.We realy love the fact it still keeps its spanish feel but is more open to foreign tourists then it was a few years ago and I think it will only get better in the next few years.Hopefully without getting to invaded by tourists because we love the little spanish restaurants and tapas bars and would hate to see them being replaced by Irish pubs en Dutch hamburgerrestaurants

Amigos is as British as it gets. There is no way any British/ Irish bars will survive Spanglish just about manages and the bars around the windmill by the todos change hand almost yearly.
