Hi Ladies

Can anyone suggest, hair products for extremely dry hair obviously due to the sun. I have been buying L'oreal Elvive bond repair shampoo & conditioner although quite expensive, its not as good I think as some reviews. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Try rubbing some coconut oil into your hair and leaving it for an hour or so before washing your hair normally. Apart from too much sun, extremely dry hair is often caused by too much washing and the excessive use of harmful chemicals, so maybe try washing it less often and using natural products?

Thank you, will try coconut oil. I don't wash my hair everyday if I don't need to

I have a similar problem but find the Olaplex range very good. Be prepared to wait a few weeks for the benefits to kick in, especially if your hair is very dry. Look for numbers 3, 4 & 5 in the Olaplex range. More expensive yes but worth it in the long run. Druni in Dos Mares sell it or Amazon either.

Another tip for dry hair is to massage some Moroccan oil or Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse into wet hair before  using a hair dryer. The heat helps get it into the hair shaft. It helps with shine and softness.

A thing to remember about the Olaplex is that the No. 3 item is applied to damp hair before shampooing and needs to be left on for 15 mins. (Longer is better) so you need to allow plenty of time especially if you have long or very thick hair. Then,  at the end the conditioner needs to be left for 3 mins. (Again, longer is better)  so plenty of time for all that.

Another tip and I offer this as a cost saving benefit, only use the no. 4 shampoo Olaplex for your second wash. A normal cheaper job is fine for the first wash - I got this tip from a hairdresser.

Oh and if you like a nice shine try and find a John Frieda product called Frizz Ease glossing mist (on line, I couldn't find it anywhere in Spain). You spray it on after styling in dry hair. A similar product from Swarzkopf Got2b Plein les yeux spray brilliance is good too (bigger bottle) . Don't use oil in dry hair, it weighs it down.

Good luck but do remember to allow time, especially if your hair is very dry. It could take a few months to see the benefits but definitely worth waiting for. Check out the independent reviews of these products.

Good luck, ai hope it works for you. I'd suggest protecting your hair f on the sun's direct rays as well.

If your hair isn't greasy try not washing it more than once a week and cut down on styling products. You could use a dry shampoo towards the end of the week if you find it necessary.

I'm not a hairdresser, busy sharing my own experience with you. Coconut oil is very good as Mags suggested too.

Thanks Ann. I will look at the Olaplex range. When you say use No.4 as second shampoo...do you mean use it alternate to a cheaper one? Sorry for the confusion lol. I will persevere as its breaking at my fringe and does look awful 🤷‍♀️

Hi Lou. I sympathise, we all suffer with our hair don't we?

No 4 is the shampoo part of the 3 step process. So , instead of using your expensive Olaplex shampoo twice instead use a regular supermarket one for the first wash and then use your No 4 Olaplex for the second wash. This will stretch the amount you use and cost less

Oh and make sure to rinse all product very thoroughly.  Hope this helps. Happy New Year.

My hair suffered dreadfully in the summer with sun and swimming.  I found this product in Dia. Only €2.20 for 250ml and I don’t need to use a lot.  I use it as a leave in product on damp hair.  Has made a massive difference.
