Hi all, the situation regarding travel to Spain is very confused at the moment mainly due to different messages in the media. My understanding is that Brits can’t enter Spain at the moment as entry is only allowed for Spanish residents and nationals. However things have got confusing this week with:

a. The EU suggesting we will be included in the revised list of safe countries

b. Spanish ministers saying we will be allowed in without testing if vaccinated. However, even then I’ve seen different dates mentioned - 20th May and start of June.

It’s also being reported that 5000 Brits are due to fly this weekend, and I’m guessing these aren’t all residents.

We are hoping to come over to our apartment in second week June but just not clear on what the restrictions are.

Has anyone heard/read anything more definite.

Thanks.

Lots of confusing information put out by both the UK and the Spanish governments.

Media speculation is also not helping the situation.

We are desperate to get out to our place in Spain but we are just going to sit tight for a another couple of months.

Hopefully by then they need for testing at either end might be done away with and a sensible vaccination passport system has been set up.

Good luck to the 5000 Brits flying out this weekend hopefully 4999 don't get refused entry & sent back !!

I believe that the EU have agreed to let non-EU tourists into Spain this Summer.  The decision was made on 19th May but it needs to be ratified next week and a date given as to when this may be allowed.

Breaking news today apparently Brits are allowed into Spain from Monday 24th May.

As long as they have had both jabs and bring the proof of this with them, according to the Spanish news just now.

From Monday 24th Spain is allowing anyone from the UK to enter whether vaccinated or not

The numbers in the press rumoured to fly have already been proven to be inaccurate and as the vast majority of the UK has had at least one jab means the visitors are probably going to be safer than many of the locals anyway...!!

Very confusing to see all the contradictory messages on this topic. People need to get their info from a reliable source, news outlet. We all have access to TV stations. Messages on the forum are relayed to others and thereby multiplying the confusion. Do your own research and I don't mean the DMail!  If info is not verified don't post it. Thanks.

This is from the UK government website

"Entry to Spain

From 24 May, entry restrictions and testing requirements for arrivals from the UK to Spain no longer apply. However, travellers from the UK should be prepared to present evidence of a negative test if they have travelled to a country on Spain’s list of ‘risk countries’ in the 14 days prior to travel. In some parts of Spain, a negative test is required when checking into tourist accommodation or when travelling to the islands from mainland Spain. See Testing requirements for arrivals from the UK for further information.

All passengers entering Spain will still be required to complete a pre-travel declaration form. Quarantine and testing on return to the UK continues to apply. See Returning to the UK.

Entry restrictions and testing requirements continue to apply for travel to Spain from ‘risk countries’. If you are travelling from a listed country, you should refer to the Spanish Embassy or Consulate in the country you are in for further advice.

I hope this helps and dispels any incorrect information given from sometimes unreliable sources

Agreed! Some armchair generals seem to have nothing else to do but rant without checking first
