Hi everyone. My wife Doris, my son Justin and myself have bought a house in San Pedro which is under construction. We have hoping to move in early next year. We are a retired couple from Malta. We are very happy to have found this forum and look forward to actively participate in it.

Welcome to the forum and to the San Pedro del Pinatar group. We did just what you are doing a year ago and finally moved into our new house this February. Lots of hard work and quite a bit of stress but all done and forgotten now though! All the best with your move here. regards, Margaret

Welcome with your fam to San Pedro! Hubby & I moved here in 2016. We bought in El Mojón- San Pedro so we do all our shopping in San Pedro . Love it here. Most our friends that come to visit want to buy here. They all feel attracted by the peace and rest here. It’s a great place to have quality life! No stress except the basic needed stress to keep moving. We love it. Have not looked back. We both are from the US but San Pedro has grown on us. We travel around Spain a lot but always happy to return to San Pedro! I am sure the reason you bought here is because you first visited and connected. Well, you won’t regret it. Welcome to the forum as well. Lots of great information! Much love ❤️

Thank you so very much for your warm and friendly message. Yes, we love San Pedro and already made Spanish friends who are helping us in this transition. We love the place as it reminds us how Malta was in our childhood before the so called economic miracle happened! We are a bit worried about the builder keeping his word in keeping to the completion date but hopefully everything will turn out fine. Thank you once agsin. Best regards Antonio aka Anthony

We were originally told by agent that the house would be completed April 2022 and now builder is saying he hopes it will be ready June 2022, however he maintains he cannot guarantee this. Is this normal? We are getting worried because he expects us to make 2 payments before completion.

In general, they can only give an approximate date for the termination of a new-build property, especially when it might be part of a new development. Your contract probably has an extension clause to cover this. We signed up for our partially built house in September 2020 and had a 3-month-from-signing, termination date on our contract, with the usual disclaimer for unforeseen circumstances, etc. Our house was actually finished in 5 months and we got the keys at the beginning of February. We also made the various payments as per the payment schedule. We were keen to get in but also understood that we were still in the middle of a pandemia and that certain things were delayed that were not the fault of the developer. It was all worth the wait in the end!
