Does anyone have any experience or recommendations about this resort and where to stay etc? I am aware its high and therefore a good chance of nice skiing I believe up until the end of April. It looks like it is a nice resort for intermediate skiers (which I am) and enough skiing for about a week possibly?

Hi, I skiid there a few weeks ago. I live near puerta de mazarron. Having been there several times in the last few years, my established routine is;

-only go mon to fri, to avoid w/e crowds.

-Pre book a hotel in Granada city, I use IBIS.

-drive there, 3.5hrs. set off early (04.00) drive straight to the complex and park in the underground cp. there is one bar open at 08.00 for coffee etc, the ski pass booths open at 08.30 as do the hire shops, which means you can be on the slopes for 09.30 (nice and quiet and you've avoided the ques!)

-finish skiing 3 or 4 ish then drive down to the hotel, underground parking, evening meals(which are worth eating), taxi into the centre(if you've got the energy!)

breakfast from 06.30 then back up for another go!

Sierra Nevada is the highest ski area in Europe but snow can be scarce so they operate snow canons most of the time so the pistes are in decent condition, the lower return just gets a bit slushy late in the day.

This how I do it, not expensive and great fun, Once I get to 70yrs old the pass becomes one euro !!(not long to go!)

Enjoy, regrds, Colin

Hi  Colin,

This is so helpful thank you. We have a flat in San Pedro Del Pinatar so a little further than you but not too much.

We were hoping to go there before the end of the season but sadly not now.

Regards Chris
