What to do

Maybe your friend needs a bit of a reality check.  Does he not realise how fortunate he is having the opportunity of living in sunny Spain.  We are heading towards a guaranteed perfect summer with wonderful beaches to enjoy.  We have fantastic supermarkets selling an abundance of fresh fish, meat, etc. If he's bored and missing Blighty what about applying for a job in Tesco in Mazarron. He would be surrounded by all things English.  Maybe do some volunteer work at The Donkey Sanctuary.  I suppose being an Arsenal fan isn't helping much. 

Thanks Donna for you advise but its not very helpful, you have missed the point, he is much too old to work and I don't think that helping with donkeys would be his thing. As I said he is missing his leisure activities bingo etc., During the day he is ok, popping down to his local bar for a drink or 2, he loves the sun, swimming in the sea but although its sunny here its too cold for that. Its mainly the evenings that he gets bored as there is only so much watching Mid Summer murders and Vera on tv he can take.

I suggested that he take up a hobby like knitting or jigsaws but its not really his thing. He is such an awkward person to please.

That's a good idea Abbey.  I've heard about bike clubs and a good way of meeting people too.  Maybe the Original Poster will pass your idea onto his fed up friend.
