Hi Lynn, Thank you for your enthusiastic vote of confidence! Yes I do now live in Los Urrutias, which is wonderful, BUT in 2018 and 2019 I visited several properties on United Golf with the intention of purchasing. The properties were in general in very good condition, better as the norm. BUT UNI...

...TED GOLF WAS A DESERT. If one wishes to live in the wilderness, then well and good. However there is NO GOLF and the swimming pools were at that time empty. The facilities at the entry are empty and the access road is dangerous in other than dry weather.

Sorry Bill but your comments are way out of date. The resort is in the campo, not the desert. The pools have never been empty other than for maintenance work, are lit up at night and look fantastic. We have had 24 hour security for over two years, which is manned by Vigilante, a well respected company, not empty as you state. Agreed, we have no golf at the moment due to the crash - it was brilliant before then, and will hopefully be again if rumours are to be believed. We are also only 15 minutes away from the new airport and have a railway station in Balsicas from which we can travel cheaply to anywhere in Spain and France.

Los Urrutias on the other hand lies on the Mar Menor which is highly polluted so no swimming or sunbathing, is prone to flooding and smells to high heaven. We drive through regularly to Ruf-Mari so have first hand knowledge.

Please, before you start making wild allegations, check your facts.

We have a property on UGR and have never known the swimming pools to be 'empty'. They are extremely well maintained as are the areas surrounding them. We also have a lovely community run bar.

Thanks, I'm hoping to get down that neck of the woods mid January and have a good look around for a week or two.  Would I need car or are there bars and restaurants around.

You would  need a car.  We always rent a car when there.  Las terrazas de la torre is 5 mins from balsicas also 5 mins from la torre golf resort the sister resort but property there is a bit more expensive.

We are only back a few weeks. The clubhouse on las terrazas is closed at the moment  but golf supermarket and pools are open. We used the hilton hotel on la torre as our local. 15 mins from los alcazare.

Rentals on las terrazas are very reasonable on the accommodation websites.

Its definitely  worth staying there while looking around  the area to get a feel for it.

Do you know the area at all?

We had to fly into Alicante but ryanair starting back flying  into murcia international  from Dublin end of march I note your from ireland. Me too.

I don't know the area but I think Ryanair fly from Cork which is where I live, I'm originally from Wexford.  We hope to get down mid January.  Is there many English speaking people around as I'm currently trying to learn Spanish but am finding it difficult to find the time and the inclination.

...nation.

Ryanair  don't fly to Corvera(Murcia International) from Cork. They have a twice weekly service to Alicante Wed & Sun up to end of March and then changes to Thur & Sun up to end Oct. Outside that you may check Aer Lingus to Alicante.

Lynn can you tell me if the block above the old seventh green has finally fallen down or been demolished

Yes a lot of ex Pat's. Language is not a problem.

Do your own research on properties for sale and make a few appointments before u go saves a bit of time when your there.

If your trying to chase up estate agents when your there can be time consuming

Best of luck

You will enjoy the search we did.
