Hi there

We live near Playa Canina, a beach for dogs. It's about 15min drive from our house.

We have a one bedroom apartment with private court yard and roof terrace with stunning mountain views.

We also have a larger family room to sleep 4 however still having some work done to it.

We also have two little dogs who are very friendly and tolerant.

Happy for you to borrow our car as it is insured for any driver over 30yrs with full license.

You would have use of our pool, your own private access and secure gated parking.

We are  in Las Palas which is close to beaches, Fuente Alamo and Mazarron/Puerto de Mazarron.

Not a tourist area at all but lots of ex pats dotted around the place and also people who speak good English.

Lots of bars, a spa shop, butchers, bakery etc... all within walking distance.

Private message if you would like some photos

Regards

Jon

I have read some really worrying articles about the houses on campsol , property appears to be an amazing price though

We are flexible.

Should you wish to have a chat either call or WhatsApp call (free)

I am planning on moving to Spain in a few years hopefully and would love to live near the sea but don’t want a tourist location . Would like to be near an ex pat community as I am on my own . Any suggestions would be great as I only know the Costa del sol area but it is too expensive to live th...

...ere . Thank you

Santiago de la Ribera is the place, very Spanish but enough ex pats around then you have los alcazares 5 Mins away which is full of expats.

Agreed. Santiago de la Ribera is one place we loved, just didn’t find a property to suit us there. Good luck!

Many thanks for this , I am making a list of places and plan on coming out early next year to have a look around . I have never driven abroad but think I really need to hire a car to be able to get about and explore , are the roads really busy ?

Any other information you can give me about the area would be really welcome . Karen ...

We have a place in San Pedro del Pinatar which is close to San Javier. It's not overly touristy, is close to great beaches -  ideal for walking the dog & driving is rarely congested in our experience. Plus there is a great road system and parking is pretty well free and very few tolls. That said tolls are going to be increased all over Spain but not very expensive.  Bear in mind there are now new slower speed limits, mostly 80 becomes 50 and 50 is reduced to 30 - mostly in urban areas but just be aware of them because they only came into effect in June this year & before we left on Fri. none of the existing limits were changed.

It's a very good town, airport access is no more than an hour (Alicante) or  Covera is about 45 mins., plenty of supermarkets including Overseas where you can get a lot of UK/Irish foodstuffs, more Irish these days since Brexit and a lot less of everything since Jan. but hopefully it will settle in time.

Everything that you'll need is there and if it's not in San Pedro it will be very close by like San Javier or even Torrevieja which is only about 25 mins. away. Plenty of English spoken. Good hospital in San Javier and plenty of clinics in Torrevieja as well.

Crime is low, mostly opportunistic and if you take normal precautions you'll have little to worry about on that front. Cost of living is roughly a third cheaper, fuel (but not electricity which is expensive in Spain) is about 1.08€ per lit. Wine is jaw droppingly inexpensive & dining out a joy both in terms of quality and affordability.

I'd say supermarket shopping is marginally cheaper than home but I'm Irish so it may he more significantly cheaper than the UK. Very relaxed living, friendly helpful locals. The town in general is a very pleasant place, some places in need of a good lick of paint but you can't have everything.

Yes,  there are tourists but not overrun - it would be difficult to find a coastal town without them. Hope this helps and good luck with the plan. Would love to hear how you get on.  Oh and there is a good ex pat community in San Pedro as well as next door in Santiago de la Ribera and San Javier on one side and Pilar de la Horadado on the other although there would be noticeably more tourist areas there but a good town nevertheless.

You are aware that you will need a work visa to be able to come to Spain? This means having a job to be able to apply, and unemployment is high, especially amongst the younger Spanish - who are of course fluent in the language. Good luck but I would be amazed if it proves possible.
