You have probably noticed that 2nd had car prices in Spain are much higher than in the UK.

There are pitfalls to watch out for, e.g. Fines against a car registration number, stay with the car if the previous owner hasn't paid up.
DON'T buy a car that has an expired ITV (MOT equivalent).
Check that the tyres match. It's illegal to have unmatched tyres on an 'axle'. Both the fronts have to be the same, so do the rears. If the tyres are more than 4 yrs old. That's a potential ITV fail, regardless of how much tread they have.

You should decide what you need in a car:

Auto or manual transmission (automatics are rather rare & more expensive)
Diesel or Petrol
Size
etc.

Mileages (odometer reading) tend to be considerably higher than cars in the UK. Lots of distance cruising here. Not a great deal of stop/start driving. If the car has been well maintained, 150,000 kilometers (90,000 ish miles) is not a big deal.

There's a 2nd hand dealer on Camposol Sector A. He speaks English (a bit) and has a fair number of vehicles on display.

Good luck.

Paul at carsinspain.es usually has a good choice at, for spain, reasonable prices. We bought our Yeti there 18 months ago, flew through its ITV last week, no problems.

Hi, I have recently retired from the motor trade in Ireland which I have been involved in since I was 15 years old. I have also recently purchased in Camposol and very happy with my purchase in D sector. I will be bringing to Spain in March a lovely Volvo V50 Estate 2 litre diesel LHD which I have taken in part exchange from a couple returning to Ireland from Sweden. I also have a VW Transporter 6 seated Multivan LHD registered and tested in Spain which is in immaculate condition. I also have a 2013 Peugeot 308 1.6 diesel RHD UK registered with only 66,000 miles on the clock, drives like new. If I can assist anybody with advise etc I'm happy to do so. Joe

Has your friend still got the Ctroen for sale? If so could they please send me some details about the vehicle.

Thank you.
