Could anyone advise about the cost of running your own pool ? Is it a very expensive addition to normal bills

If you are up to cleaning the pool yourselves then go for it... otherwise it will cost around 20€ per week to have it cleaned and treated...you also need to keep the pump running for around 8 hour's per day...and keep the pool permanently top up with water ...I have a 9 X 4 MTR pool( unheated) and it works out around 30€ per week in the summer months... around 25€ in the winter ... realistically you will only be able to use your pool approximately 7 months out of the year ... otherwise you will need a injection of anti freeze good luck enjoy Camposol.

For us the unheated pool is only warm enough around 4 months of the year so if you intend to use it more then heating is a must! Ours is kept around 32C and  I reckon costs average 100-150 a month .obviously not heated in summer months .....electricity, water, chemicals etc. we close ours off end Nov to April so we get around 8 months...its 9x5 with a seperate jacuzzi....worth every penny!!!

We have an 8 x 4 metre pool.  During the summer the pump runs for 2 hours twice a day and out of season we drop down to 1hour twice a day.  We have dual electricity rate of so use the pump during the cheap rate time.  Not expensive.   We use two chlorine tablets a week,  and rest the levels regular.   If you intend to look after the pool yourself  best advice is to ask for pool training.  This may cost you to start with but in the long run will save you money and worry.  There are several pool cleaning companies on Camposol and I would recommend you meet several of them as their prices and what they offer vary considerably.

're heating of your pool, we paid for a summer pool cover which increases the water temperature quite a bit and if put on early enough in the season will extend its use  and cut down on water evaporation

So far our place is only a holiday vacation bolt hole and not permanent so we employ a local family firm to come and clean the pool and the pump every week and that costs me 660 Euro per year which for me is very reasonable and very much worth it (not heated either)

660€ per year =12€ per week ...I don't think you have added the cost of running the electric pump/ keeping the pool topped up with water throughout the year think about it.

Does not bother me as that comes under electric which is minimal and the water is also covered by normal charge which I would pay anyway. so for me, as far as I am concerned the cost of my pool is 660 which I find acceptable and reasonable

If you lived here permanently you would find your biggest bills to be water and electric. A couple of weeks occasionally might not amount to much but live in ?Spain permanently and you would soon think differently.
