Hi Camposol.    Keeping ourselves informed prior to moving and hoping you are safe and dry after the much publicised storm.  Thus this question after seeing 'Mazarron ex pat' informative vid's on this site..... "Was Camposol fortunate or was this down to good storm defence systems and natural geography,  allowing the majority of storm water to pass by and on to lower locations" (ie.. Mazarron)??

Camposol was extremely lucky this time.

If the same amount of water that dropped on Los Alcazares dropped on Camposol it would have been a completely different story.

No amount of drainage or good planning can take into account of the massive amount of water that a Gota Fria drops in a very short space of time.

Not sure that’s entirely true. According to my neighbours who’ve been here 15 years the last Gota Fria was dreadful and they were marooned for months but it has since had work carried out in diverting heavy rain storms and water etc so now it is nowhere near as badly affected if at all considering what happened over the weekend.

Thanks ever so much for both replies Roland and Cat.  Although was it a case of more water fell on Los Alcazares, or it received more water due to higher ground run off from inland, ie... run off from Camposol and surrounding areas?

Camposol is not near Los Alcazares. They are different in that LA is on the Mar Menor coast....
