Sorry but I find this yet another Ex Pat or should I say Immigrant complaining about what they receive from the UK government.
When people decide to immigrate to another country, why should we expect the same treatment as those that reside in their mother country.

Here in Spain pensioners receive free health care which is much better that the Uk where I originally came from, doctors appointments within week normally. A&E about 30 minutes to triage, have recent experience of this. from what I understand this is not so in UK.
Every year we receive an increase in our State pensions some Immigrants would say "it is not enough" if you lived in any other country that had not been in the EU ie, Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the Bahamas, you would get no increase.
Why not just accept you have decided to live in another country, follow there politics and what there residence receive, and if you are not happy return to your country of birth, but as many say they cannot afford that.
Look what benefits you possibly can get when I lived in Murcia City I had a free bus pass pensioners can also obtain subsidised holidays, instead of wasting time trying to stir up support for somthing that will never happen just enjoy your life.
Eduardo, normally I find your comments both agreeable and balanced but I'm not sure I agree with you on this issue. I think this is only the first time I find I don't share your view.
British/Irish or anyone else emigrating to Spain or France are receiving pensions from their original country, which they have contributed towards all their working lives.
Given that people have freedom of choice as to where they want to live why should what they receive differ in any way from what they would receive if they remained in their own countries? It's not as if heating is not just as necessary in these Med countries, more so in fact since most Spanish homes are not insulated they way homes in colder temps. are. So the need is the same and they have contributed to their pensions all their lives . Why deny them that comfort just because they have found a way to live more economically comfortable in another country?
After all if they were still in their own country the state would have to pay them the allowance anyway. By living in a more economically affordable country they are essentially less of a drain on other resources than if they were at home, ie medical, home care, travel etc. So one thing cancels out the other don't you think ?
I don't live in Spain permanently but know many ex pats who do and it's wonderful to see them living a more comfortable life here than they could do at home on the same money and all because of freedom of choice. It's their money, and it should be up to them where and how they want to spend it. It's only my opinion but I just had to respond to your post.
I wish you a good day and look forward to reading your posts again going forward.
