Hi Folks, I am looking to move to your beautiful area for three months a year. Ive found a home on the beach near the kite surfing school but my concern is the wind. I was there for three days and two were quite calm but the third was VERY windy. I understand wind on the beach but this was pretty intense and Im interested to know how often its really windy. Thank you so much for any input you are willing to share. -Mark

The reason the Wind/Kite surfing school is where it is is because that is the windiest part of the Mar Menor.
In summer, there can be 40-50 kiters up there circulating, usually from 5-7pm. when the wind picks up with the seabreeze.
I am a veteran sailor, so I follow such things. I live on the sea shore and see the normal weather cycle is 5-6 days, with one of those wind from the north east. You will look forward to that in the summer when the temperature might drop 2-3 degrees. In the winter not so much. But that cooler northerly hits the whole med. coast, so there is no avoiding it. In the last month there have been some strong winds, but much less than France or the UK has seen.

The wind is a god send in summer..hello beach.. breeze ...that's where people go to cool down and waters ports...Sun 10 months of the year ...wind occasionally strong ..get a kite

Hi Mark, I don't think you will have a problem with the wind. It's never too strong and can be welcome in the hot summer months. It normally picks up a bit after 2pm. I am an avid kite surfer and wish it was much windier :-). Thanks, Dave

We have a place just up the road from the Spinosa kite school and I’m an avid kite surfer myself. Only wish I could pop over more often during the year but absolutely love the sport and the wind when it pops up around 2pm. Hope to see you on the beach sometime this year. 🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️🏄♂️

Hi, its a lovely area isn't it we love it on the mar menor just wish it was far windier bur guess you can't have it all! Would be great to bump into you at the beach as someone else who speaks English. Where abouts in england do you go? My main beach is camber sands.

Hi Dave, Im actually from Massachusetts, USA. And we will definitely bump into one another if I make the move. Currently looking in Salou, Spain as well. Its a tough choice but I havent lost sight of the fact that I am very fortunate to be in a position to make a choice of where to live for three months a year and still enjoy Spring, Summer and Fall at my house in the small New England Town I call home. Very fortunate for sure.

Portsmouth. I use CBK over at Hayling Island. Must try Camber sand sometime. See you on the Mar Menor. 🏄♂️🏄♂️😎
