Hello,

We have previously visited the Murcia area on a couple of occasions looking for areas to purchase a property and despite liking a few towns never found the ideal location.  We have recently received information of property in Gea y Truyols but do not know anything about this area.  We would be grateful if you could let us know whether this is a town or a village, what amenities are available and what other places are near by.

It looks as though it would be no further than 45 minutes from large better known towns & coastal areas so being inland would not bother us, as long as there is a variety of options for eating out, exploring and we like golf.  We've also read United Golf course is closed - can anyone advise what other courses are available.

The prices seem lower than other places in GyT so wondering why? Is it too good to be true?

Would welcome as much information as possible whether good or bad and appreciate we all have differing opinions.  We are planning another trip later in the year when safe to do so.

Thank you all in advance and stay safe.

Melanie & Dan

I haven't heard of GyT at all, but have holidayed at El Valle golf resort, which is close by, so can help a little with the golf...

In addition to El Valle, there are also La Torre, Sierra and Hacienda de Riquelme golf courses / resorts in the area, which all have a couple of bars & restaurants. In my opinion, El Valle is the best course.

These were built by Polaris Resorts and were going to form the Nicklaus or Golden Bear Golf Trail down to La Manga. I think 4 or 5 of a planned 7 were built, before the market crashed in 2007/8.

Sucina is probably your nearest village / town.

Prices are probably lower as you're further away from the coast and from large towns with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, which is what most people are looking for when thinking of a location for a holiday home or 'place in the sun' to retire to...
