Hi, my daughter is coming to Lorca soon to be an English Language Assistant in a school for her year abroad from Uni. Can anyone tell me where in Lorca she needs to go to obtain her NIE number and if she needs to make an appointment in advance? I've read that you need to obtain a payment form first at a police station to take to a bank to pay (fee?) and then go to apply - this seems a very long winded process, is this correct?

Thank you.

I would recommend using a local solicitor to do it for her. It can be a tricky and long.   winded process if you do it yourself. I would recommend Abad Abagodas Solicitors in Los Alcazares

Ask on the local facebook page for Lorca or a general expat page ...there will be someone there who helps with the process. You dont need a lawyer......that will be expensive and definitely not one in Los Alcazares which is miles away!

Thank you, yes, she isn’t going to use a lawyer as she is a student. We have found out the process but are struggling to ascertain if she needs an appointment. I will try Facebook page.

yes she will need an appointment....you can find the application form on the CAB Spain website...pay the tax at the bank first ...unless her Spanish is very good she will need some local help at the police station.
