What kind of snake is this and is it poisonous?

Looks like a Ladder Snake. Not too poisonous! Snakes in Spain are not very venomous.

Could be Smooth snake or a Southern Smooth snake according to the website & pictures below.

It looks a bit like an asp viper, has similar markings. If it is, it’s poisonous. Good for getting rid of rats though!

You get a liquid to keep snakes away from the house……maybe you already know this.

Have had several types , but will take your advice and see about the liquid for keeping them away , someone recommended vinegar or ammonia will see what ls most enviro friendly too thanks again alec 👍

Ferreterías sell the liquid, smells like tarmac. You put it in little containers on each side of house, like a windowsill or beside a doorway, and the smell does the trick. No harm to the snakes ……or you!
