Does anyone have either Starlink or Sky DSL internet?

We have tried both IP Security, which was good till it was put under new management, and we're currently with Wimax which is absolutely abysmal.

If anyone can recommend any reliable company which actually makes an effort to resolve any problems it would be hugely appreciated.

We have Starlink and they have a good promo on at the moment.

https://www.starlink.com/es

Then type in your post code and you will get all the information.

You can buy or rent.

both very good offers at the moment.

We get very good speeds and had no troubles.

Best thing we ever did, have had years of rubbish internet provider's.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Thank you so much for that. I've been tearing my hair out with Wimax. I'm convinced they have no idea what they're doing. I get a different excuse every time I call.

Was Starlink easy to install?

Yes I've looked. Prices have come down and , really, just now I'd pay anything for a decent connection. will get on to it this week.

I also emailed the CEO of Populoos yesterday, because I was so fed up being given the run around by Wimax. And he replied! A nice email, with apologies and offer to fix the problem. I can't see him getting far with that, unless he overhauls the whole outfit, but at last someone was interested.

...

Sent you a pm.

I found I complained to Wimax and the Internet went back to rubbish after a week or two so don't hold out any hope.We put up with it for over 5 years.

We then went on to using a sim card, with sim card router and an extension  poll to try and get a better signal, worked well for a bit.

Then the same same broken signal bluffering.

After 21 years in Spain we looked into Starlink and at the time it was buy only 450e for the kit and 49 plus Spanish tax 10e a month for Internet. 🤔

EXPENSIVE.

We waited and Starlink got the monthly reduced to 39e plyss tax 10e.

So we thought, we would go for it as like you just had enough if rubbish Internet.

We was so sick of the Internet that we was on the verge of giving up on any Internet.

That was December, we get great speeds ethernet 180 pluss wifi 50 to 100. (have had higher speed on both).

We haven't looked back 🤞👍.

Think 1 or 2 days for about a "minute" TV was bluffering, that's in the 4 months we have had Starlink.

We live in a dip and an old casa, with big thick walls and tree's outside.

The satellite points upto the sky, was perfect for us.

Now Starling has great offers buy or rent.

After meeting Jaq123 and seeing how good her speeds were, I'm getting Starlink installed on Wednesday, with the renting option.

When it has been installed, I'll update this thread with my experience...

Update, as promised...

My issue was terrible buffering due to low speeds from WiMax - I averaged 11mbs, with a variation of 7mbs - 14mbs. I live out in the campo, so no cable option. I had complained on several occasions to WiMax (now Populos), but found that there was either no-one who spoke English, the English-speaking person needed to get an engineer to call me back, etc. Those callbacks were always many hours later and/or the system was working slightly better at that time. Virtually nil support at weekends or in the evening, etc.

I don't use the internet for much that requires high speeds - my whole issue was around being able to watch TV in HD without buffering!

I ordered Starlink about 6 weeks ago and had it installed a couple of weeks later. I opted for the rental option, so I pay €40 per month for the service, €9 per month Spanish tax & €10 per month for the hire of the kit. I also paid an additional approx. €210 for a wall mount, a longer (75ft) connection cable and a router / splitter.

As I'm not very good at DIY and I knew this would involve drilling through walls, etc. I asked the guys from Rainbow TV, who provide my internet TV service, if I could pay them to install it all and connect through to the TV. I paid the guys €100 for this work.

The aerial was installed on the roof ridge end of my neighbouring garage, as it needs an unobstructed 360' view, then the cable passed through the wall to link to the Starlink hub and then via the splitter to my TV, etc. I immediately measured 256 mbs and this has almost eliminated the buffering. You do get a 5 second buffer about once an hour, which is due (so I'm told) to the aerial moving from one satellite to the next.

So, overall, I would recommend Starlink, based on my experience (and the Rainbow guys, if you're useless at DIY, like me!
