Hi Paul,
I’ve just dealt with this situation myself.
It appears to me that the Non Resident Tax is calculated off of the IBI bill.
In my case the IBI was set up as a standing order and a copy of the IBI bill was emailed to the solicitor each year (as set up by the solicitor when purchasing the house). On receipt of the bill he calculated the tax (probably very easily done) and would email me to say it was due along with his Professional Fee (in my case €180 inclusive of iva)….
You need to arrange to have the IBI bill emailed to you (cutting out the solicitor) and you can then get another professional to pay the tax on your behalf or do so yourself by filling out Form 210 online (I believe the form is 210, if not then I’m sure someone more experienced than you and I will correct me and educate us both). I used Angar Taxation Service based in Torrevieja, I did all my dealings via email, he (Andy) charges €20 for a single tax return and €40 for a couple.
I emailed my solicitor and said I wanted to take control of all of my own affairs and asked them to email me the IBI bill which I forwarded to Angar. I am all paid up for this year, the only step in the process that I haven’t dealt with is having the IBI bill emailed to me but that is on my to do list. I believe I can make that arrangement in the Oficina Municipal de Recaudacion……again if wrong someone will hopefully enlighten us.
I can now spend my €180 on a nice meal.
Good luck with it all.
