In winter, when there is often not a person walking on the Promenade between the Fisherman and Encarnacion, do you seriously think that bikes should still be banned?
Remember that includes the three wheel bikes often used by older people

Having had to put up with arrogant, self- important 2 wheel eco-warriors in Bristol for the 8 years l worked there l can only agree, anything to keep cyclists away from pedestrians must be a good thing.

They won't wear helmet cams because it will prove what a nuisance they are on the road.

I write as a daily cyclist in response to the minority who think they have the right to share pathways with pedesrians.
I would not dream of being in the so risky situation of weaving in and out of pedesrians on the playa walkways.
I use the roads or hopefully a cycle path if the council has provided one.
Cyclists who believe they can mingle with pedestrians on a pedestrian walkway , often pedalling at high speed by necessatity weaving in and out, I class as retards and treach as such.
The council know the right and wrongs of such a situation and they have applied the law in this case because of the absurb risks caused to pedestrians by cyclists.
Pedestrians, pedestrians with children, pedestrians with dogs have the right to walk safely, and as for the ridiculous assumption of one forum writer, they can walk two or even three abreast without fear of being hit by a cyclist.
As to the belief that a minority petition by an inconsiderate few can cause pedestrians to be put at risk, as they have been - well good luck with that!
I look forward to bumping into a few of you.

If you're referring to me, I think you got the wrong end of the stick. I obviously didn't make my post clear enough. I have seen "many" pedestrians use cycle paths instead of footpaths. Not for crossing the road. They actually walk in the cycle paths. Yes in 3s and yes with kids and yes with dogs. The cycle paths should not be used as a substitute for footpaths, just as footpaths should not be used by cyclists. I'm more than happy to keep off footpaths. I have never cycled on footpaths. Most cyclists are not as bad as you make out.

By it's very definition "promenade" is a paved public walk, typically one along the seafront at a resort.
At this time of year it is busy and you just cannot hear cycles coming above the hub bub of holiday makers and excited kids running about. Only been here 6 months and as an ex Brit I have to think twice when crossing to get to the beach as I still have a habit of looking right, then left and then right which is the opposite to what it should be here.
Maybe they should lift the ban during winter months? Walking dogs on the beach during winter seems to be the norm and although that is strictly forbidden it goes on. Best not open that can of chum though :)
