Hi
I guess it depends on what you are looking for. There are a few places to eat and for ex-pats the old Pescadaria restaurant is now the hub for social events. It’s basically run by the expat AAV membership with many different nationalities being members, Brits, Dutch, Swedish just to my knowledge. The seafront is slowly being improved, an old outcrop of a rock jetty was removed a year or so ago and it is currently in the process of being properly dredged. The whole Mar Menor is currently in ongoing process of recovery following high levels of pollution in 2019 after a huge storm washed lots of farming chemicals into it killing a lot of the wildlife but certainly the water at Los Nietos seems to be recovering well with wildlife pretty abundant again. The good thing to happen as a result of the gota fria storm was the enforced removal of illegal farming around the Mar Menor. There is a much more proactive Mayor in position now and the years of neglect are slowly being overturned. The Renfe train is a great plus point for getting around without a car, and it’s ridiculously cheap to use.
