Does anyone know what I can do about anti social Spanish neighbours? They are outside on the street at night shouting, screaming, making loud conversations until almost midnight most nights. They create a lot of litter which is scattered around the street in the morning. I am fed up of having to sweep this up each morning during my stay in Spain.  Who can I report this to?  I am tempted to sell my property as a result of this.

In general the Spanish are a late crowd! They dine late (chefs often don't start work until 8.30 or 9pm) and they party late. Midnight isn't late in Spain. They are often quite loud too. A complaint from a newly arrived foreigner (because that's what we are) about a Spanish family acting like a Spanish family will not get you anywhere.

We have had an exceptionally mild autumn, that may be why your neighbours are out now. On summer nights lots of your Spanish neighbours will be outside enjoying the balmy late evening and chatting above the noise of the cicadas. It's a lovely part of living in Spain.

Why does it have to be quiet at midnight? That's British thinking. Change your bedtime and embrace the Spanish way of life, you can't change it so let it change you. Good luck.

This is an interesting response which has made me reflect.

I would not accept this from my neighbours in England, I dont know any English person who would. I chose a Spanish community as I wanted to experience a true Spanish lifestyle but this will certainly it will take a while to get use to.

Britain's rule the roost when it comes to anti social behaviour of that there is no doubt however one of the responders seems to suggest the Spanish are just being Spanish ...they are not perfect however by a long chalk ..they discard litter on an epic scale ...let their dogs roam and bark ad infinitum and let them foul anywhere unsupervised and don't pick it up and abandon them on a gargantuan scale for mainly British charities and volunteers to cope with the fall out..love revving motorbikes and are seriously poor drivers ...so I would say don't just accept everything because its Spanish...the truth is they live outside..are loud because they weren't allowed to speak until 1970 because Franco had his spies everywhere and they disappeared if they talked sedition...the houses here are built too close together and are effectively made of aerated breeze block and tiny inside  ..I would suggest if you want a quieter life move inland ...it won't change I don't think where you are ...maybe get up later..take a siesta and stay up later and maybe get to know them if you can ..at heart the majority are lovely people ..if you can't beat them join them or escape inland ...its much quieter but not quiet and there are less amenities on hand like the coastal areas so lots to consider...
