I’ve just started to look for a holiday home on this coast. Can someone give me advice where is a nice place to be. Mazarrón Country Club has nice villas. Sucina has good value and now I’ve come across Portman. What’s your opinions on these areas ?

The country club is a safe bet, nice villas, ten minutes to Puerto de Mazarron. Only snag is there are no shops so a car is essential. Five minutes to shops on Camposol in a car.

Sucina is perhaps to far from the coast for some people. That said, the property is good value,

Worth a look.

Portman,

Make enquiries about the recent clean up. There was I believe an issue with heavy metals in the surrounding sea / coast after past years of dumping.

Hi,

We did look at the Country Club but ended up buying in Sucina and we don't have any regrets with our choice. I suppose in the end it is down to personal choice so spend time at each before you decide. Sorry but I can't comment on Portman as its not somewhere we looked into.

Sucina has a great selection of shops and amenities, including supermarkets with competitive prices, banks, chemist, vets, garage, hardware, a 'sell everything Chinese's shop as well as a great selection of bars, cafes and restaurants. A new well equipped gym has just opened in the village too. If anything the bus service isn't great. We travel to the coast regularly when we are out there and its only 15 minutes down the RM1. Its also a great location for walking, cycling, Murcia city and other places of interest. The fiestas and summer music events are brilliant. We have found everyone to be friendly and helpful. Its a lovely mixture of ex pats and Spanish.

Happy hunting
